Everything You Want To Know About Roll Bags

Finding appropriate packaging materials for your products is a must in this day and age. There are too many packaging materials to choose from. You have to make sure that you have made the right choice. Here in this article, we will discuss roll bags, their use, and means of application.

What is a Roll bag?

Roll bags are clear or custom printed plastic bags. They consist of different plastic formulations. These bags come rolled onto a centerpiece, usually made of plastic. This centerpiece is known as a core. Each of these bags is open at one side and perforated at the other. The open side allows for the convenient insertion of goods and products. The perforated side allows for the removal of the bag from the roll.

These bags are similar to the bags you find at a grocery store for handbagging fruits, vegetables, and other products.

While these bags are most ideal for e-commerce fulfillment, you can also use them for mailing, packing medical supplies, and securing a lot of consumer goods. They are used in hundreds of thousands of packaging lines across the world.

Packaging machinery used for roll bags

You can fill these bags manually, by hand, or with machinery. The first thing to consider is the expected volume of products to package. With that information at hand, you will be able to figure out easily whether you have to bag your products manually or you will need to go for an automated option.

When it comes to bagging volumes, less than five bags a minute is a low volume. On the other hand, greater than 20 bags per minute will be a high volume. You can handle a lower volume of bagging manually. For greater volumes, you will have to incorporate an automatic bagging machine.

For hand bagging, you will need a labor force. A laborer will have to grab a bag and pull it to the perforated section. Then he will have to remove the bag at the perforation. Next, he will put the product into the bag and seal it with a tabletop sealer.

An automated bagger will pull the bag from the roll, fill it, seal it, and remove it at the perforation. The machine keeps repeating this process until the roll is empty. At that point, you will have to take the empty roll out and place a new roll.

Are roll bags right for you?

To determine if you need roll bags, you will have to answer a few questions. Answers to these questions will help you compile necessary information helpful in deciding if using roll bags makes sense for your packaging application.
